External Wall Finishes
With Shomera you are not limited to an off-the-shelf product. We offer an extensive range of external finishes so you have the option of creating a design that best suits your environment and tastes. Whether you prefer a traditional plaster exterior, stone, timber cladding or a mixture of finishes, we use only the highest quality materials that have excellent weathering properties.
Plaster Render
The cement board and plaster system we use has much better weathering properties than traditional block, sand/cement plaster finish. Standard blocks are very porous and absorb water, while sand cement is not impervious to water either. The final plaster coat we use has a through-colour (colour is through the plaster not on top) and is impervious to water, while the cementatious substrate is high-density with a fine aggregate concrete mix, giving it excellent weathering properties.

Stone
The stone cladding is very high quality made from natural product and indistinguishable from a natural stone wall which adds a design feature for home extensions. There are a variety of natural stone effects, some of which can be finished with a mortar joint or left to provide a dry-stone finish.

Timber
The external timber cladding we use most often has excellent weathering properties. Solid lengths of kiln-dried Douglas Fir are machined, finger jointed & glued (resorcinol glue) to form a glulaminated board. The timber is then vacuum pressure treated and dried again. The timber has a 10-year structural guarantee from the manufacturer and comes with a full technical specification to cover the material as well as the manufacture and treatment process. Alternatives to the Douglas Fir include Western Red Cedar and Austrian Larch.
The cladding can be in a vertical or horizontal orientation. Stainless steel fixings are used in attaching the cladding to ensure no compromise on the durability of the Shomera.

Other Options
Other external finishes include painted/textured fibre cement cladding, thermally treated hybrid sheeting, and metal cladding systems.
