The project, designed by award winning architects, ODOS architects, was to completely renovate and add a large two-storey extension to the rear.
House Extension
The house, an old, two-storey council house had a number of small, poor quality extensions /outbuildings added over the years. These were all demolished and the site level was lowered to give full ceiling heights in the existing and new build.
Remodeling The Existing House
The extent of re-ordering of the existing house was extensive yet the outcome is a beautiful house that fits in well with its surroundings.
Rear Balcony
At First floor, there is an outdoor terrace area to rear, enclosed by timber fins, while the three bedrooms are positioned in the new extension at Ground floor.
Interior Spaces
The living space was greatly expanded and bathed in natural light.
Making The Most Of The View
In the existing house area, the First floor was cut back and the ceiling joists and ties were removed to provide a double height open space through to the vaulted roof of the old house.
